1. Try listening to the sound file before attempting to play the chord on the guitar. Each chord should be strum downwards towards your lap while learning the chord.
2. Then try to strum the chord upwards towards the ceiling.
3. Now try to strum downwards and upwards at the same time without losing the control of the picking hand. At an even pace.
4. Try counting while strumming the chord downward and upward motion:

Practice Each Example One at a Time
1. Listen to the sound file first before attempting the G Major Scales on the guitar.
2. Then try playing the scale slowly at first then gradually pick up speed.
3. Pick down and up / or up and down with the pick. This is called alternate picking. When learned, scales are usually used in solo accompany by the chords.
Theory: G Major Chord is followed by G Major Scale. A Major Chord is followed by A Major Scale etc...
